Questions about the Jubilee Celebrations:
What is the Jubilee of St. Francis?
St. Francis of Assisi is an Italian saint from the 12th Century, with a spirituality focused on God’s love, the sacredness of nature, building peace, and service of the poor. He founded the Order of Friars Minor, or the Franciscans. Franciscan Friars have lived at Mount St. Francis since 1949, offering a place of peace, healing, and prayer for all who come. Pope Leo declared January 11, 2026 to January 10, 2027 a Jubilee Year of St. Francis to celebrate the 800th anniversary of St. Francis’ death, and to invite all people to follow his humble way of peace, love and service.
On August 8, we will mark this Jubilee here at Mount St. Francis with the community here in Cochrane.
